Poker Eon has recently introduced ring games where you can play 3 Card Poker against other players. Although these fast paced and exciting games are also played with a 3 card hand, they're pretty different than the game we play at the casino against the dealer, as it offers very exciting betting options.
The 3 Card Poker game you play at online poker rooms is based on a very popular game played in India and Britain. The online game has a slightly different hand rank than the British variation, but everyone who can play those can start playing online easily.
 In India and South East Asia the game is called Teen Patti or 3 Patti (sometimes spelled Teen Pathi) and it's one of the most very popular card games. Teen Patti simply means 3 Cards in Hindi. The British has been playing 3 Card Brag, or simply Bragg, since before the 18th century. In this variation of the game, the strongest hand is actually three 3s, where when you play online, the strongest hand is three Aces.
Brag, by the way, may be the original name of the game of poker. Poker is considered by some to come from the German word "pochen" which means to bluff or to brag.
It's interesting to note that in 3 Card Poker the strongest hand is actually not the hardest one to get. Although a straight flush is pretty rare, a three of a kind wins it over! The hand rank in this game is: 3 of a kind (also called prial), Straight Flush (also called running flush), Straight (aka Run), Flush, Pair, and High Card. Another funny thing is that when it comes to straights and straight flushes, A-2-3 beats A-K-Q. Like every game you play, it's always important to check the hand ranks before you start.
What makes this game so exciting is the fact that you can play blind, without even seeing your cards, but you can also open your cards every time it's your turn to bet. So it's not uncommon to see players calling and raising, stacking their chips on the table, when their cards are still facing down!
The idea is that while you play blind you pay only half the stake as a player who have seen his cards. But although you bet less, in fact you are really gambling. This surprise and thrill is what makes this game a bit crazy, but ever so entertaining…
